Safe Accessories

While safes are generally pretty standalone there are always a few ways to make the experience better and ensure that you have all of your needs taken care of. Safe accessories range from humidity control to organizational tools and lights and while not always necessary they can still be an important facet to home or business storage. Here we’ll look at some of the more important accessories and you can decide for yourself what is necessary and what is not.

Humidity Control

Some of the more often considered necessary safe accessories are those related to humidity control. This includes desiccant packs as well as electronic dehumidifiers. This is especially important if you are storing paper documents or firearms though some other items can also benefit from a dehumidifier. When it comes to humidity control there are pros and cons between your options but none stands out above the rest. In general desiccant packs are cheaper and require no power source but are a less permanent solution when compared to electronic dehumidifiers. Organization

Using organizational tools for your home safe can be a great way to get the most out of the space you have. Popular options include behind the door hanging cubbies of sorts as well as supplemental shelving. While this might not seem particularly important a well organized safe can be the difference between having enough space and needing a bigger safe. One good example of an organizational tool with a bit more utility would be tarnish-resistant jewelry bags for storing silver. Other options include various ways for storing keys in a safe and secure manner.

Anchor Kit

While many safes will come with an anchoring kit standard if yours didn’t it’s a great way to increase the security of your home or business safe. Anchoring your safe to the floor is one way to make sure that a potential burglar can’t walk off with your entire safe and crack the lock at their leisure. Unless you plan to be moving in the near future there’s really no reason not to anchor a safe. There’s a number of different options available mostly dependent on the types of anchors being used but all are effective.

Lighting

Finally, another way to supplement your safe’s utility is by installing a small light. This isn’t particularly necessary though it does make it so that you can access your goods without an external light source. This may be useful depending on where you are storing your safe or if you frequently have power outages. Most lights designed for use in home safes are battery-operated LEDs that can be quickly clipped to the top of your safe.
