All of us here at the Safe and Vault Store want to express our appreciation for our loyal customers. We have been serving the public for the past seven decades—focusing on home safety and security. Because these topics are close to our heart, we wanted to take a few minutes to share some helpful tips. Because keeping our family—and yours—safe and secure is always a top priority.
Let’s start by defining what safety and security mean.
What is safety?
Safety is often used to describe the condition of being protected from possible harm (e.g., proper PPE is used on a job site to protect a worker from unintentional injury). When we think of safety concerning our home or family, we often link it to providing a way to protect ourselves from harm (fire protection, theft deterrent systems, etc.). And safety involves our emotions—our overall well-being is closely linked to feeling safe.
What is security?
By definition, security implies the protection of people or property from external threats that would cause harm. For example, our personal security at home or work could be threatened by dangerous unwelcome visitors. So, we find ways to actively promote security—using physical barriers to stop intentional harm.
Simply put, our perception of safety cannot be fully realized without proper security in place. So, what are some practical measures you can take to provide both for your loved ones?
